Soyuz plays during the scene where Lieutenant Matt Kowalski is hallucinated by an oxygen-deprived Dr. Ryan Stone and she gets a new will to live. The tone of the theme is tragic and haunting and explores grief.
Soyuz was one of the many tracks on the soundtrack that was named after the location to avoid a spoiler.
